Extremely proud of his Polish heritage, Krawczyk constantly promoted the Polish culture, attended numerous Polish-American events in Western New York, and was often seen dancing with his wife, Jane, at polka parties. Many may recall his red PT cruiser with a gold Polish eagle painted on its front doors making its way up Harlem Road in the Pulaski parade. At the time of his death, Krawczyk was an active member of the Niagara Polish Cultural and Historical Society. He wrote the society’s newsletter and helped with the ticket sales for its annual wigilia. He was also a member of the Echo Club and the Buffalo Polka Boosters. He served as an usher at Holy Trinity parish in Niagara Falls where he had been a life-long member until its closing in 2008. Since then, he faithfully attended the Polish-language Mass at the Pallottine Shrine of the Infant Jesus. He was a founding member of the Cruiser Club of Western New York and a swim meet referee for NYSPHSAA. A graduate of the former Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, Krawczyk was employed at Carborundum Company for 35 years and retired from Pemco/Precision Electro Minerals Co. in Quality Control. Krawczyk was born March 12, 1941 in Niagara Falls, the son of the late Stephen and Stella (Rutkowski) Krawczyk. On July 27, 1963, he married Jane Mandziak who survives. He is also survived by three children, Denise (Gregory) Swanson of Clarkston, MI., David (Michele) Krawczyk of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kenneth (Aline) Krawczyk of Chicago, IL. He leaves behind one granddaughter, Alyssa Cardillo. In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Cecile (Brian) Webster of Amherst and Carol (Wallace) Blake of Lebanon, TN, and five nieces, five nephews, and seven great-nieces and great-nephews. A wake was held at the Zajac Funeral Home in Niagara Falls on April 15. Rich’s “Polish car” was parked outside the front door. A Polish flag as well as an American one flanked his coffin which was adorned by red and white flowers. Photographs of his life were on display. Polkas and “Serdeczne Matko” served as background music. His funeral mass was on Saturday, April 16 at St. John de LaSalle Church, Niagara Falls. Father Slawomir Siok, former pastor of Holy Trinity, was the celebrant. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston. Rich’s red PT cruiser accompanied him right to the very end. It was followed in the funeral procession by a long line of white cruisers.

LEWISTON — Richard L. Krawczyk, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011, in Mount St. Mary’s Hospital, Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Stephen and Stella (Rutkowski) Krawczyk and attended local schools. He worked at the Carborundum Co. for 35 years and retired from Pemco/Precision Electro Minerals Co. in Quality Control. Richard was a member of Holy Trinity RC Church, the Buffalo Polka Boosters, founding member of the Cruiser Club of WNY and a swim official for NYSPHSAA. He was proud of and a keeper of Polish Heritage.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Mandziak) Krawczyk of Niagara Falls, NY; his children, Denise (Gregory) Swanson of Clarkston, MI, David (Michele) Krawczyk of Oklahoma City, OK, Kenneth (Aline) Krawczyk of Chicago, IL and his granddaughter, Alyssa Cardillo; his sisters, Cecile (Brian) Webster of Amherst, NY, Carol (Wallace) Blake of Lebanon, TN; five nieces, five nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, April 15th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319-24th St., cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. John de LaSalle Church, 86th & Buffalo Ave., with Rev.
